Our School Prospectus 2020 is now available.

Dear Parents/ Carers

As Rector I would like to welcome you on behalf of all of the staff and learners to our Lochgelly High School 2019-20 Prospectus. I hope that it will share with you a flavour of what we are all about.

Lochgelly High School was opened in 1987 and proudly serves the communities of Lochgelly, Lochore and Cardenden. We have five cluster primary schools: Benarty, Cardenden, Denend, Lochgelly South and Lochgelly West that we work closely with. We have an exceptionally dedicated staff who show passion about the learning, compassion towards our learners and have credibility, in that our young people know that we want the best for them.

As a school we are exceptionally proud of our learners’ standards of attainment and achievement. In recent years there has been a continuing ongoing rise in many of these aspects in particular in our positive destinations into further learning or the world of work. We always expect the highest standards of personal conduct, commitment to academic “personal bests” and enthusiastic involvement in the wider life of the school. To support this we have had an ongoing focus on innovative Learning and Teaching over the past two years which you can learn more about on our school website.

We have been working hard over the last year and together have developed our whole school values of the 3Rs: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience where “Every Minute Counts”. Through a strong focus on this together it will lead to raising of our standards even further and achieving “Optimum Cuique” “The Very Best for All”, our school motto.

As you will see from the information contained in this prospectus, Lochgelly High School has a rich curriculum with many extended opportunities to grow our learners. It enables them to be fit for the world of further learning and work and we aim to provide them with the necessary skills for the next stage in their lifelong education towards appropriate future pathways such as university, apprenticeship, further education or employment.

The aims of our Curriculum are to develop the best: “Attainment and Achievement”, “Positive Destinations” and “Young People who feel Supported and Included”.

In session 2019-20 we were exceptionally pleased to be recognised for our hard work and awarded the a Bronze Award for Rights Respecting Schools.

We strive to communicate as effectively as possible with home through Twitter @LochgellyHS,electronic newsletters (Sway), our exciting new LHSApp (information on Website) and Groupcall, as well as reports and individual communications.

I very much look forward to welcoming your child to Lochgelly High School in the near future and to working closely in partnership with you over the coming years to give our young people the very best chance of success.
