Why Choose a Subject in Business Enterprise?
Lots of job opportunities: Business courses introduce you to marketing, human resources, accounting, ICT, customer care. Every organisation needs people who have these skills.
Increase your confidence: Business courses are all about developing your interpersonal skills so that you feel more confident.
Prepares you for the modern office: You will learn how to use the most up-to-date ICT packages. If you have great ICT skills you will be immediately effective in the workplace.
Improves your communication: People working in business need to be able to write reports, letters, and e-mails, deliver presentations or negotiate deals with customers. We also develop your listening skills and raise awareness of the importance of body language which will help you in other classes and help you getting a job or going to College/University.
Become a great team player: In our collaborative learning environment you will learn to work as a team, how to get the best out of your team and discover what your role is in a team.
Learn to deliver exceptional customer service: For business success you need to understand your customer needs and deliver a service that exceeds their expectations. We will show you how to achieve this which will make you more employable.
You can exploit your creativity: Have you got good ideas? Are you innovative? Are you a detail orientated person? A business career gives you opportunities to make a real impact by tapping into your creative side.
Want to be self-employed? A business course can help you achieve the knowledge and skills you will need to manage your own business. Stop dreaming and start believing in yourself – you can make this happen!
What Courses Do We Offer?
We offer courses from S1- S6 in the Department.
In S1 and S2 pupils will learn about Branding, Introduction to a Business and using graphics packages. We also do a Cisco programme in line with Fife College where pupils will gain a certificate for completing the different modules. In S3 we offer learners the opportunity to choose either S3 Admin & IT and/or Business Management. Courses are continually reviewed to ensure they are relevant and up to date. Each learner is given the opportunity to challenge their ability and there is a focus on working with each learner to establish clear guidance through their chosen pathway. All S3 courses have an emphasis on equipping our learners for the demands of national courses with an emphasis on developing and progressing literacy and numeracy skills. In S3 Business, learners are encouraged to apply their enterprising, team-working and presentation skills by participating enterprise activities like the Tenner Challenge and taking part in a Christmas mini enterprise event.
In the Senior Phase, we offer N4, N5 and Higher in Admin and IT and Business Management. All SP courses are planned in line with SQA guidance and internal verification takes place to ensure national standards are upheld. Lessons are planned to engage learners in their chosen subject and self-efficacy is built in learners by scaffolding learning and supporting learners throughout this process.
